Health and Well-being in Real Estate: Why does it matter?

The wellness agenda has evolved into a fundamental pillar of corporate real estate strategy becoming a firmly entrenched necessity at the core of future real estate investment decisions

This webinar is led by Tim Habraken, Associate Director at CBRE Nederland and Abigail Dean, Head of Sustainability at TH Real estate.

The webinar covers:

• Outlook on the societal dynamics and background of why the health and well-being has become such an important topic in real estate;

The 2018 Nick Tyrrell Research Prize has been awarded to joint authors Dr Frank Ametefe and Dr Steven Devaney, both of the Henley Business School, University of Reading, with Professor Simon Stevenson of the University of Washington, for their paper, Optimal Composition of Hybrid/Blended Real Estate Portfolios.

The Management Fees and Terms Study analyses the fees and terms structures and rates of non-listed real estate funds.

This study examines the options that fund managers consider as the termination date of their closed end funds approach. This study has been conducted annually since 2007.

The Funds of Funds Study 2018 provides an overview of the fund of funds industry globally, including insights by target region, by style and structure and other associated characteristics, as well as detailed analysis of the performance of funds of funds. The study is international in scope, and is conducted in conjunction with ANREV in Asia Pacific.

The history of the INREV Quarterly Index was recently extended back to Q2 2000 providing the non-listed real estate industry with almost 18 years of fund performance data. The enriched data allows for greater insights into the real estate funds industry and deeper analytics into this sector.

Data has become a key input for driving growth, enabling businesses to differentiate themselves and maintain a competitive edge. Given the growing importance of data the extended history of the INREV Quarterly Index is a timely and welcome expansion.

During the webinar, Edgar Orlovskis, INREV’s Research & Analytics Associate, presents the results of the historical data collection project and demonstrate how these can be used for a deeper understanding of the non-listed real estate universe.

Edgar is joined by Stafford Biddulph, Associate Partner at Rockspring and Rob Courtens, Investment Strategist at BlueSky Group, who discusses the benefits and applications of the extended history and how it can be used for better decision making, supporting their roles and day-to-day tasks.

The INREV Young Professionals Conference was held in Budapest on 5 and 6 July under the theme 'Remaining resilient through change'.

This session, led by Renaud Breyer, EY, and Barbara Flusk, Citco Fund Services, examines the current market practices in fees and expense metrics and their related disclosures as well as presenting the new Total Global Expense Ratio (TGER) – the first globally consistent measure for real estate investment vehicle fees and costs which INREV, ANREV, NCREIF and PREA jointly developed.

The webinar covers:

• INREV Guidelines for calculation and disclosure of fees and expense metrics
• NCREIF PREA Reporting Standards measure of fund fee load
• Global initiative on Total Global Expense Ratio
• Benefits of implementing these guidelines

The webinar will be of interest for investors, fund managers as well as advisors. It will be of particular interest for investment managers who work in fund reporting and those on the product development side who are interested in trends in fee terms and structures.

This year’s survey includes 162 managers and represents total real estate assets under management of €2.7 trillion as at end 2017.
