We are back with an updated and improved version of our popular ESG Essentials course. Join us for a comprehensive foundation in environmental, social, and governance ESG principles tailored to non-listed real estate professionals. Through new interactive online content, videos and case studies, you will learn how ESG is integral to every aspect of responsible and sustainable non-listed real estate investing. This emerging financial risk guides investment decision-making as the industry addresses its responsibilities to tackle climate change in the built environment, decarbonisation strategies, as well as its efforts to improve the contribution it makes to meeting societal and community needs.

Our updated INREV ESG Essentials online course provides a solid understanding of this integral area of real estate investing. Through four clear modules, you’ll learn how about key ESG concepts and terminology, before exploring the real estate industry’s role in addressing climate change. You also learn how the industry’s work is being shaped by the reporting and regulatory environments, including our own INREV initiatives. Finally, the course covers future trends in ESG including impact investing and biodiversity.
Emily Hamilton, Head of ESG at Savills Investment Management, will lead the course, which is delivered through four on-demand eLearning modules. You complete these modules in your own time in an informative and interactive learning environment through videos, exercises, case studies and quizzes.
Throughout the four-week course, you are encouraged to share your questions on the discussion board. There will be two online Q&A sessions, during which industry experts will answer the questions received. All participants will need to join these Zoom sessions to receive their official Certificate of Attendance.
The course will cover the following topics:
- Module 1 – Introduction to ESG
- Module 2 – Managing climate risk and the transition to net zero
- Module 3 – Building a successful ESG strategy
- Module 4 – Future trends in ESG
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Gain a solid understanding of ESG priorities in the non-listed real estate industry today.
- Learn what role the industry plays in addressing climate change – and what it can to do to achieve net zero.
- Identify and work with Sustainability Guidelines best practices.
- Understand how regulations such as the EU Taxonomy and SFDR are driving the adoption of ESG strategies and influencing how funds and assets are managed.
- Develop a clear understanding of emerging fields including social impact investing and biodiversity.
This course is targeted at younger professionals in the early years of their careers, or for those that are new to the non-listed real estate industry. ESG Essentials works as an excellent follow-up training from the INREV Foundation Course for those who want to explore ESG in more detail. Already familiar with ESG fundamentals?
