In 2022, we initiated a year-long Young Professionals Mentorship Programme, pairing young professionals with seasoned industry experts for regular meetings to gain valuable skills and knowledge to succeed in the non-listed real estate industry.

The programme has been a resounding success and has become a critical component of the INREV Academy. Last year, we selected 75 young professionals to participate in the fourth edition of the Mentorship Programme, where they gained guidance to develop valuable new skills, specialised knowledge, and broaden their professional networks within the non-listed real estate industry.

Upgrade your skills and network

The Mentorship Programme is your chance to receive personalised advice and upgrade your skills. To apply for our programme, you must be an INREV Young Professional (32 years and younger) with three to five years of non-listed real estate work experience. Successful mentees will be chosen based on their motivation and application form responses.

The fee for the programme is €850 per person for mentees, which covers the costs of the programme and two in-person meetings, as well as 1-night accommodation during the mentorship kick-off in Copenhagen.

Share your wealth of expertise

As a seasoned industry player, your invaluable expertise and real-world knowledge can help mentees learn and succeed. If selected, you will need to contribute your time, experience and industry advice with a small group of three mentees throughout the year.

2026 - 2027 Programme overview

The fifth edition of the mentorship programme will run from July 2026 to June 2027. The programme will kick off in Copenhagen on 2 and 3 July 2026. There will also be a second live mentorship day on 12 November 2026 in Amsterdam. Finally, there will be a closing event in London in June 2027 (exact date will be announced). All mentors and mentees must attend all events. 

Throughout the year, mentees and mentors will meet online four times, in a small group setting for up to one-and-a-half hours. The small group size ensures that everyone has a chance to ask questions, share experiences and participate. INREV provides all participants with guidance, including our recommended meeting structure, and tips and tricks to make the most out of the programme. Each mentee will also have the opportunity to attend a valuable one-on-one session with their mentor.

In addition, INREV hosts evaluations throughout the year to measure the programme’s success, gain insights to maximise value and stay updated on the groups’ progress.

Skills and career development

The examples below provide an indication of possible learning goals within the programme; however, mentees are expected to define their own objectives, which may differ depending on individual ambitions and development needs.

The INREV Young Professionals Mentorship Programme focuses on career development and building soft skills for long-term success in the industry. Through guided discussions with senior industry leaders, mentees could develop their communication and influencing skills, improve time and stakeholder management, and enhance their presenting, pitching and leadership capabilities. The programme also offers space to discuss market trends, innovation and navigating uncertainty. At the same time, the programme supports mentees in building and maintaining a meaningful professional network across the industry. 

Beyond skills development, mentees can gain a valuable perspective on different career paths within the industry (e.g. capital raising or transaction management to fund management, research, finance or sustainability) and learn what capabilities are required at each stage. By exploring mentors’ career journeys, mentees can clarify their own ambitions, and identify next steps. Mentees learn to build visibility and navigate corporate cultures, including international and multicultural environments.

FAQ

Can INREV be flexible with the number of years of experience?
Technically, we require approximately 2-5 years of experience. However, we encourage you to apply as we evaluate applications on a case-by-case basis, considering your personal motivation. The only mandatory requirement we do not make exceptions for is that you must be 32 years old or below. 

Can I apply if I have 2 - 5 years of experience in another industry (e.g. private equity, banking, finance, or similar)?
Yes, again we encourage you to apply as we evaluate applications on a case-by-case basis, considering your personal motivation.

How will I be matched with my mentor/mentees?
Mentors and mentees will be matched carefully by INREV based on input from the application forms, with careful consideration to achieve a diverse group from different geographies and organisations. INREV conducts the matching process between April and May.

When will I know if my application is successful?
Those accepted to the programme will receive an official welcome letter in mid-May 2026, with an invitation to the mentorship kick-off for mentors and mentees on 2 and 3 July in Copenhagen. 

Will the meetings be online or in person?
There will be three mandatory in-person meetings: the official kick-off for mentors and mentees in Copenhagen on 2 and 3 July and a second live meeting during the INREV Academy Day on 12 November 2026 in Amsterdam, and finally a closing event in London, June 2027 (exact date will be announced). The rest of the meetings with your mentor throughout the year are online.

Are there any costs involved?
There is a nominal fee of €850 per person for mentees only. This fee covers the costs of the programme and in-person meetings, as well as accommodation for the night of 2-3 July during the official kick-off for mentors and mentees in Copenhagen. All travel costs are at the individuals’ own expense. 

Who is responsible for the agenda for the meetings?
One mentee per group will be nominated as the group lead and will be responsible for organising the agenda. Together with your fellow mentees, you will arrange the schedule and agenda for the meetings, whereby the mentor provides his/her input as well.

What is INREV’s role in the programme?
INREV organises the programme and provides guidance and recommendations to the mentors. We also gather feedback during the year to stay updated on each group’s progress. While INREV does organise the in-person events, we are not involved in the online meetings with your mentor throughout the year.
